Bright Spring

Warm · high contrast · vivid

Warm with high contrast and clear eyes. Saturated colours hold their own against you; muted ones disappear.

The Bright Spring palette

  • Bright orange
  • Vivid yellow
  • Turquoise
  • Hot coral
  • Bright teal
  • Fuchsia
  • Grass green
  • Apricot

Neutrals

  • Bright ivory
  • Warm tan
  • Deep navy

Three that fight it

  • Dusty mushroom
  • Sage
  • Muted lilac

Three, not thirty. A palette is a prediction about which tones lift your face, not a list of banned colours — and a long avoid-list is the fastest way to make a useful idea useless.

What makes a Bright Spring

Bright Spring is warm colouring with unusually high contrast: clear, saturated eyes against skin that is noticeably lighter than the hair. Brightness is the defining property here, not warmth — it is the axis that separates this season from its neighbours, and it is why muted colours, which suit most people, actively drain this one.

Am I a Bright Spring?

Brightness is easier to test than temperature, so start there.

  • Put a saturated turquoise next to a dusty sage. If the sage makes you look tired and the turquoise makes you look awake, you are on the bright side.
  • Look at your eyes in daylight: Bright Springs usually have a visible pattern in the iris — spokes, a clear limbal ring, distinct colour rather than a blend.
  • Then check temperature. Warm brights lean coral and golden; cool brights lean fuchsia and icy.

Bright Spring versus the seasons it is confused with

  • Bright Winter

Temperature. Identical brightness; Bright Winter's clear colours are blue-based, Bright Spring's are golden-based. Coral versus fuchsia is the fastest test.

  • True Spring

Contrast. If saturated colours look loud on you rather than energising, you are the softer True Spring.

Bright Spring makeup

This is one of the few seasons where full-strength colour is the right answer.

  • Clear coral and warm bright pink blush; nothing dusty
  • Bright warm greens, teals and clean golds on the eye
  • Black liner is workable here, unlike the rest of the spring family
  • Bright corals, warm reds and clear warm pinks on the lip

Hair colour for a Bright Spring

Warm and defined: golden blonde, bright copper, rich warm brown. Muted or ashy dye jobs cost this season more than any other, because contrast is the thing being spent.

Gold or silver?

Bright polished gold. High shine matters more than the metal itself — brushed finishes lose the clarity.
